Color My World Quilt

I am all caught up with the "Color My World" quilt along by The Quilt Show Block of the Month 2021. This is up to May. This has been a fun BOM so far.

 

Pojagi My Way

After many years of trying to learn to make the Sam Sol stitch by hand (the traditional way), I finally learned it. Thanks to The Quilt Show guest Youngmin Lee demonstration.

I have tried for many years to take a class in Seoul. But no one would demonstrate it for me. 

So, I did buy the ramie fabrics, and brought them home.

 I made a few attempts before; but now I learned the proper technique. This is my first one. I can't wait to make more items.

This stitch is the whipping stitch used to make the Pojagi fabrics.

 

Bee Challenge

My Bee had as a challenge for 2020 to make the beautiful Afternoon Delight quilt  designed by Sue Garman and provided as a block of the month by  The Quilt Show website.

I always loved this pattern and wanted to make it. 

I used the opportunity to try new techniques that I have been watching on Youtube. I have to say that some will be put to the "tried and not to be done again". I don't like the binding on this quilt. I will reverse to may previous binding ways.

Now to make the label and take better pictures.

 

I have finally finished my Allietare quilt. The top has been finished since 2017; but only now it was quilted. 

It was a mystery quilt from Bonnie Hunter in 2017!!! I only made about 1/2 of the blocks from her instructions. I did not want to make a large quilt from the start. 

I recently read about making single fold binding for wall hangers, placemats, and other table top quilts. The binding sits flatter and keeps stem glasses safely on the table. 

I have to say, I love it. 

The binding for this quilt was cut 1.5 inches wide; and attached the same way the double binding is attached with a 1/4 inch seam allowance and so on and so forth. 

I will use this more often on my quilts where I want the biding to be flatter and not so bulky.

I machine quilted it on a Bernina 780 using the embroidery module and a quilt design by Amelie Scott.

Algorithm Quilt

I made this quilt top a couple of years ago using the GE Designs "Algorithm Quilt" pattern.

I used 1 layer cake (10" bundle), and a couple of fat quarters to complete the top. The binding is from a Moda dots fabric that was leftover from another project. 

The quilt was finished with a quilt on my embroidery machine. The pattern has ribbon bolls and came from Amelie Scott Jumbo pack 1.

It will be a donation to the Quilt Guild of Greater Houston.

Happy Valentine's Day.

This quilt top is inspired by J Michelle Watts pattern. I draft it to make it to a size that fits my wall; and to match the number of strips I had. They are all Asian inspired fabrics, also from a Bee friend.

This quilt was quilted with hearts from an edge to edge pattern for embroidery machines by Amelie Scott found on  Expansion pack 8

February 1st 2021

Tops finished in January with 1.5" wide Asian fabric strips given to me by a Bee friend.

I added another row to the right side of the green and pink top.

Quilt size 45" by 60"

Quilt size 54" by 72"

 I will use my embroidery machine to quilt both tops with an edge to edge pattern.
