Colour My World

Quilted and bound my version of Colour My World Block of the Month (BOM), by the Wendy Williams. It was a BOM for 2021 at the Quilt Show website.

Hand dyed fabrics by my friend Kate. Quilted using my embroidery machine with flying swallows, a design by Embroidery on line.

I am calling my quilt: "Birds Eye View of Our World" 😉

Finally finished this quilt. The top was completed in 2013. It is the mystery quilt from Bonnie Hunter called Celtic Mystery. I made it smaller than her top. Mine is 75" square and I quilted on my Bernina 780 using the embroidery hoop and the Gingko leaves pattern from Amelie Scott Jumbo pack 1. It will be a gift for a family member.

Urban Owls my way

My Urban Owl quilt hanging on my dining room wall.
The pattern is by Wendy Williams of the flyingfish company. But I did modify it a bit. I  changed the pattern of 3 of the corner stars and I also changed the dimensions of the first border around the central block.
I needle turn appliqued, and machine pieced the top.
To the back I added a needle turn applique of a branch with a nest, my original design using the leaves and branch at the front for inspiration.

Back corner label. I will hand write on it.

New projects on the way

Urban Owls

This pattern is by Wendy Williams and it is called Urban Owls. I am making as a challenge with some of my Bee friends.

I am using needle turn applique and some prepared turned under seams with glue. It is a challenge to myself to learn more techniques.

I have also modified a few things to make it my own quilt. The lower first border (green circle fabrics), is larger than the original pattern. I was thinking of green grass full of dandelions.

The 8 point stars are supposed to be of 2 different patterns (3 of each pattern). But this quilt is so busy, that I decided that all 6 being of the same pattern is OK.

I will trim the blocks just before attaching to the center. I  still need to make the blocks that you see missing here.

Garden Party January Block

I have completed my version of the Garden Party Down Under January block.
This is the quilt along for 2022 offered by The Quilt Show. The pattern will be given on the first day of each moth for members of the Show.
It was designed by Irene Blank.
The final pattern will be given in December.
January 2022

I am using needle turn applique for my blocks. The triangle borders were machine pieced.

Pick a Petal Block of the Month-March

And, so far, I have made a lot of the glorified 9 patch that were available in February and quite a few of the March block, which is quit...
