The Quilt Guild of Greater Houston is celebrating it's Golden Jubilee in 2026; and to make this celebration very special, we are making 50 quilts of valor to dedicate to very deserving people. At least 25 of them will be dedicated to women that have served in the armed forces. These are a few of the ones completed and shown in the July guild meeting.

Game on BOM

Uploaded Image

Moving ahead on my "Game On" block of the month quilt top.

The next blocks are easy to figure out, so I am working ahead on my own borders.

I think I will change the last  four small borders. I don't like the small inner border on the right side. I will not repeat it on the outside; and to make it more symmetrical I will repeat only 2 of the small borders patterns on the outside.

The Ravens

Finished the top.
After debating forever if I liked the border of this quilt, I decided to make a small piece of it and see how I liked it with the top.
It turns out that I like it.
So, the top is done and this is the best I can do to  photograph it. Exercise bike and all in front of it.
The house I grew up was painted green, that is the reason I decided on green  to make the center block.
I did not want a purple house. I did not use purple at all.
I know it is part of the poem; but I made my quilt my way.

More potato chips quilt

Uploaded Image
On my design floor, another finished top using potato chips pieces cut 2.5 inches by 4.5 inches and a variety of scraps.
It will be a donation quilt. Quilt blocks are 12.5 inches unfinished. Total of 20 blocks.
I am considering if I should add a border to make it slightly larger.

Time to look at this WIP

This one quilt top has been out of sight and out of mind for a long time.
I think it needs some finishing up soon. I should just plan to finish it as a small. I like the pattern by Sue daily and I used everything but the kitchen sink. That was the idea. Just fabric that I had leftover over the years.

Now I Know My ABC’s

Uploaded Image
These are my new alpha-clips. I am loving them.
The blue chicken patterns are found on the Youtube channel: Blue Rooster Farm. She is very generous and share it for free. She also has patterns with acorns and strawberries.
You have to watch the video for the Blue Rooster Pattern  all the way to about 1 hour into it to get the QRCode to download the page.
I bought these "self adhesive clips tapestry" on Amazon. They are about 1 inch square. I did print my chicken pattern at 70% and they fit perfetly.
Before I cut the paper squares, I covered the whole sheet of paper with "contact paper", to prevent pins and needles to scratch the printed paper.

Family dinner time

Uploaded Image
My window bird feeder has been busy in April.
But now I took it down until Fall.
I have kept the other feeder (seen in the back).
I am following directions to prevent spreading of bird flu. I do wash and clean the feeders every week; but these feeders where the birds can get inside could spread diseases.

Game On BOM 2026

Uploaded Image And off we go.
This past weekend, I started the block of the month (BOM) that the quilt show is doing for 2026. I have made several of the qults over the year.
The quilt parts are giving every month and it started in January 2026; but life has been happening  fast and furious, so I just have started this center piece in April.
I am using a fat quarter bundle of "Gelato" by Maywood.
It is the second quilt I make using this ombre fabrics.
The center block shown here is made with patterns provided from January to March.
The pattern is designed for paper piecing but I made it cutting the pattern apart. I am not using paper piecing. I find it easier and less time consuming.
Now to month 4.
